Atterbury Milk Glass Hand & Dove Covered Dish

Atterbury Milk Glass Hand & Dove Covered Dish
The lid of this antique milk glass covered dish features a woman's hand holding a dove. The hand has a ruby glass stone in the ring on her finger. The lid sits inside a footed base with a lacy rim.

Dimensions: The dish measures 8" x 5" x 5 1/4" high.

Marks/Dates: c. 1889. Shown on page 68 of Newbound's Collectors Encyclopedia of Milk Glass. Stamped on the inside of the lid "Pat Aug 1889." This was reproduced briefly by Westmoreland in the 1960s.

Condition: There are a few issues on the underside of the lid - a chip and a stress crack, not uncommon for its age - and not visible when the lid is on the dish. The turquoise glass eye of the dove is missing. This should be an easy fix with a loose stone.
