Opalescent Glass is often the most decorative of glass treatments. By fusing two layers of glass - one clear and one colored, either transparent or opaque - in a multiple firing process, the clear layer achieves an opalescent "milky" consistency. This opalescent layer can apply to just the rim of a piece; can be thick or thin; or applied to the whole body of the piece depending on the glass artist's whim and the desired effect.
