Kanawha Glass Green and White Slag Ruffled Crimped Bowl
This is a light or sage green and white slag bowl that I believe was made by the Kanawha Glass Company. Kanawha was one of the West Virginia Companies that produced glass up until the 1970's. They all made some extraordinary glass but much of it was small and in the shape of miniature pitchers.
Kanawha made those as well but they also were one of the few houses that experimented with slag glass. Most of their slag was mixed with a single color or 2 shades of a color and white.
It is my understanding that predominately they used amberina, amber and this soft leafy green. There were not machine pressed pieces but were made by hand and while they were sometimes mold blown they were finished individually.
Dimension(s): 8 5/8" wide x 3 3/4" tall. The base is 2 7/16" across.
The color is sexceptional on this bowl. It has a double crimp and a polished pontil.
Condition: Excellent. There are no chips, cracks or nicks. There is no major scratching and the wear to the base is minimal.
Manufacturing Imperfections: None
