This vintage hen is described in Shirley Smith's Glass Hen on Nest Covered Dishes Identification & Value Guide. She is molded of blue milk glass on a diamond basketweave base. Her head is turned to the left and she has two eggs on either side in the front and a single egg on either side of her straight split tail.

Dimensions: This is the 5" hen. The base is 5 5/8" x 4 5/16", and the top is 4 3/4" x 3 5/8"

Marks/Dates: Unmarked. Hen was first produced by Westmoreland Glass in 1900.

It was reproduced by Rosso Glass using the original molds, but most of those are marked with the Westmoreland mark. Other American companies may also have reproduced this hen but we could find no specific reference to colors, dates or differences in the mold.

Condition: No chips, cracks or other damage.
